You can delete the folder containing the iPod software update files so iTunes can download a new copy of the iPod software update.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the steps to take if you get this message:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li> \t\tEject iPod and quit iTunes.<\/li>\n<li> \t\tUse Disk Utility in Mac OS X or run<br \/>\n<tt><br \/>\nchkdsk<br \/>\n<\/tt><br \/>\nin Windows to verify there are no other issues on your hard drive.<\/li>\n<li> \t\tLocate the iPod Software Updates folder:\n<ul>\n<li> \t\t\t\tIn Mac OS X, the folder is<tt><br \/>\n\/Users\/username\/Library\/iTunes\/iPod Software Updates<br \/>\n<\/tt><\/li>\n<li>In Windows Vista, the folder is<tt><br \/>\nC:\\Users\\username\\AppData\\Roaming\\Apple Computer\\iTunes\\iPod Software Updates<br \/>\n<\/tt><\/li>\n<li> \t\t\t\tIn Windows XP and Windows 2000, the folder is<tt><br \/>\nC:\\Documents and Settings\\yourusername\\Application Data\\Apple Computer\\iTunes\\iPod Software Updates<\/tt><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li> Windows Vista: Open Computer and choose Folder and Search Options from the Organize menu.Windows XP and 2000: Open My Computer and click Folder Options from the <strong>Tools<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li> Click the View tab.<\/li>\n<li> In the Advanced Settings pane, select the &#8220;Show hidden files and folders&#8221; button.<\/li>\n<li> Click OK.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nNote<\/strong>: If you don&#8217;t see the files in Windows, turn on the Show hidden files option.<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> \tDrag the iPod Software Updates folder to the Trash or Recycle Bin.<\/li>\n<li> \tConnect iPod and open iTunes.
