Switcher as an jibe:

Eh. I’m not opposed to calling myself a switcher. My first real exposure to Macs was back in college. I supported the computer labs and the English lab was a room of networked Mac SEs with 20MB hard drives stacked below them. I have a lot of fond memories playing Net Trek or helping middle-aged ladies who managed to drag and toss their icons off the screen.

Back in the late 90’s I was a big PC gamer (back when PC gaming was big) and I lived at home so a piecemeal desktop that I rebuilt once a year was perfect for me. However once I moved into my first apartment, I got sick of the computer in the little bedroom/office and the only ones doing wireless were IBM ThinkPads (expensive at the time) and Apple. Plus I thought the iBook was SUPER CUTE!

I spent a year on OS9. I hated how crashy it could be (generally it was Internet Explorer or Outlook Express bombing the OS) but loved how easy it was back up and how it was a joy to use. By the time OSX came out, though, I was hooked. I’ve tried going back a few times to Windows for various reasons but I generally just end up frustrating myself.

Sorry, somehow that turned into a switcher story. 🙂

iPad/eBook: I still want the iPad bad. And to be honest I’ll probably pay whatever the ebook cost is…as long as it seems reasonable.

MBP: I agree with what you both. 99% of what I could possibly want to do would run just great on the current MacBook Pros. I use my 360 for gaming. That being said, the old PC geek in me still wants a new graphics processor or USB3…and so I wait. And get whiny every Tuesday morning when the online store doesn’t go down for updates. 🙂

PS: Have you guys ever checked out the Mac Power Users podcast? Just heard of it myself and been catching up on it. It’s kinda neat that they’ll do entire podcasts devoted to things like LaunchBar or other productivity apps.
