Hey Guys! Another great cast! Thanks for reading my soliloquy… LOL I’m sorry that my comments are soo long winded… Guess I just like to hear you read my comments out cuz I’m totally not use to being given the time of day.

I never said that Xbox wasn’t a good system. I also agree that Xbox is definitely the better platform for multiplayer gamers. Unfortunately, I am probably part of the minority because I am a single player gamer.

To clarify the Nintendo statement I made. I am not hating on Nintendo at all, just that they missed the mark with the Wii U. I too am also a huge nostalgic Nintendo fan! My Nintendo… NOT Super Nintendo… my Nintendo is still pretty much in mint condition and is still pulled out occasionally.

Thanks for answering my questions. Again I want to clarify on the first question regarding Nintendo games. I don’t mean new games, I mean games we grew up with. There are so many ROM’s and emulators out there where hackers have figured out how to make it work on other devices. Imagine how much money Nintendo could make if they did release those old games. I totally agree with Peters position. Chuti… I don’t think that Nintendo will ever just become a software company. I think we are ALL on the same page here actually, just seen from different angles.

I didn’t think the Asus Transformer Prime was gonna be competition either but just wanted your take 🙂 Thanks 🙂 And finally I totally agree with Peter on the release date. It’s gonna be in April and the reasons are those that you laid out in your argument. Thanks for the advice on whether or not to buy. On that note though I will say that I may actually get Kindle Fires instead just cuz they would probably be better suited for my family/friends.

I would be very interested to see an HD version of the iPad. My answer to Chuti saying that he doesn’t think there’s gonna be a new one for 18 months is… Blah… I do agree with the fact that there probably isn’t going to be a design change in the new iPad 3 but I do feel very strongly that we will see something from Apple regarding the 3 in or around April. I think I may sell my 2 for a HD 3 if that is the case… actually either way I think I’ll be making the jump to the 3 because I truly don’t think that Siri will be coming to the iPad 2.

On the Kindle Fire and Nook debate on whether or not Peter called the Fire the Kindle Nook. Chuti… you are mistaken (LOL). Peter was referring to the debates/discussions on previous casts regarding iPad/Kindle and then Kindle/Nook. But I do see how you could have thought that he was calling the Kindle Fire the Kindle Nook (for a split second). I think, based on the the differences, that I too would be a Kindle Fire purchaser.

Hey guys! Great show as always.

I wanted to chime in on the Kindle vs. Nook issue. In addition to slightly better specs, I think the SD card expandabily can be important for some users. They can likely pull pictures off thier digital camera with the right App, handy for vacationing and all. That’s another point, the SD can be used to store one’s pictures and or music, and movies or video. Sure some of that could come from the cloud, but what if you are in a place with no or slow WiFi? Streaming a HD movie over a slow connection might not work too well.

I also think since most e-books from both Amazon and Barnes & Noble have proprietary DRM, Kindle or Nook customers with extensive libraries really can’t switch platforms easily. This is sort of like what Peter was saying about iOS, he’s got too much invested to switch.

Oddly enough, this makes the iPad (or even iPhone) one of the most versitile e-readers out there, as it can run Nook, Kindle, and iBooks Apps. I do agree with Peter that the iBooks App isn’t the best on the eyes. I do really appreciate his suggestion on the “sepia” setting, that makes it much better. Thanks for mentioning that! My other big issue with iBooks is it has no desktop client. Maybe I’d like to continue reading on my MacBook Pro at home what I was reading earlier on my iPhone?

Lastly, while we are discussing e-reading, let me rant on Amazon’s killing of the best most open e-reader App ever: Stanza formerly by Lexcycle. This amazingly configurable and open e-reader linked to a number of e-bookstores, and you could add any you wished. There was lots of free content available through the App. It had a desktop client, and till Apple made them remove the feature, would sync over the air with that client. All was wonderful till Amazon bought the company. They SAID they had no plans to eliminate Stanza at all, they just wanted the expertese and resources of Lexcycle to help Amazon’s own efforts in making Apps. At first all was as promised, then Stanza updates began to be tardy, and then buggy. Well it was just recently announced that the last update of Stanza to support iOS 5 will be the last. It will be discontinued thereafter, which is what many people thought they planned all along. Such a open, free, and popular product that operated outside the Amazon ecosystem wouldn’t continue to be supported by Amazon. I spent a hour or so consolidating and moving all of my e-books to iBooks last night, and eliminating Stanza from my Macs and iPhone. Although iBooks is OK, it leaves a lot to be desired compared to Stanza. Hopefully, it will get better in future versions. Heck, the Nook App for iPhone is more configurable, and includes the ability to have light text on a black screen, which is my favorite for eye and battery conservation.

That gives me an idea, maybe you could ask your listeners to recommend good e-reader Apps? I’d like a Stanza replacement that isn’t tied to one bookstore? Any ideas out there in the podosphere?
